President Biden made a secret visit to Kyiv to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky and demonstrate American resolve to help Ukraine defeat the Russian forces that invaded. He promised more weapons for the country’s defenders and spoke about US support for Ukraine in the war, as well as freedom and democracy at large. The trip had been in the works for months and was considered risky by those around him. However, nearly a year after the Russian invasion, Mr. Biden and his team gambled that he could get in and out safely.
